Review | ecotools eBay brushes

Hi lovelies,

I have been collecting make up brushes for quite a while now, as I like to have a brush for each product or role, for example a bronzer brush, a blusher brush, a contouring brush etc. That way I know which brushes are being used with what products and I can keep organised!

My absolute favourite brushes are the Real Techniques Core Collection. I really did not want to ever purchase them but I am glad I caved in as they seriously have changed my make up routine. For cheaper brushes I have a couple from Elf and of course my Cath Kidston brush set

I have always been interested in the ecotools brushes when browsing in Boots but never wanted to purchase them as they are expensive for something that does not look as good quality to me as the Real Technique's sets! I saw this on eBay from a seller in Hong Kong and ordered it just to add a few more brushes to my stash.

Now I will be completely honest and say that I have no idea if these brushes are genuine or not as they cost less than £4 instead of the £20 in Boots. However I researched and apparently ecotools are all manufactured in Japan anyway so I have seen some suggestions that the brushes may be genuine as they can afford to sell them so cheaply.

This is sold as a five piece brush set that is perfect for mineral make up. Really it is a four piece brush set as the fifth piece is the small bag that you can hold the brushes in for travelling in. The brushes are fairly small and compact, good for taking out or chucking in your handbag.

They are not an amazing quality, they are nothing compared to Real Techniques in all fairness, but they are soft. I like the bamboo handles, they are easy to work with and blend out products very well. I like having the small kabuki brush on my dressing table to use with pressed powder. I really like the eyeshadow blending brush, I have used that a lot and it is great for the job. I have been using the flat brush for eye shadow but it is actually sold as a concealer brush and the powder brush is being used for blemish powder.

I bought these brushes here, if you do some searching you can find lots of different sets really cheap. I do think they are probably from the factory where ecotools are made, but they were likely to not have been up to the standard that is sold in shops so they are discounted on eBay. I checked on the ecotools website and they do have this set available to buy here.

If you are looking to add a few more brushes to your collection or are on a budget, I would recommend this set. They took about three weeks to arrive from Hong Kong, I expected a longer wait because of the Olympics.
Have you purchased anything from ecotools?

  2. i have the foundation brush from Eco tools and I love it. It's a silver handle instead, which retracts the brush inside. So it's really compact and perfect for when you need to travel around! xo
