Review | Maybelline The Rocket Mascara

I love mascara and find it difficult not too buy a new product launch, especially from Maybelline. I have loved Maybelline mascaras for as long as I can remember. When I heard about there newest launch The Rocket, I did try to resist, promise, but it ended up coming home with me pretty quickly.

Explosive volume in Rocket Time! Up to 8x more volume. Our exclusive Jet Glide Brush with flexi-fine bristles loads on big bang volume so fast, there's no time for clumps. Our smooth formula keeps lashes looking sleek and even.

I love the packaging as I pretty much always do with Maybelline mascaras, the colours are always bright and fun. The brush is a huge and plastic, but the bristles are very small with lots of tiny close together spikes that are designed to glide through lashes and stop clumps forming.

The brush does glide through lashes, and feels like its seperating them, but I think the brush is a bit too big. The Rocket is not a clump free mascara, considering that it promises it is I was annoyed, you can see quite in the picture where it has clumped after one coat. The formula is wet and thick, make sure there isn't too much on the wand as it can really affect how it turns out.

The Rocket mascara definitely does add volume and curls my lashes well. I like how it looks and don't mind the clumping (is the word clump starting to sounds weird to you too?) even though it claims not too. It dries hard and can flake after 8hours wear, and it's not the easiest to remove. I have found myself reaching for it often, but I think its because I want to perfect how I apply it.

I probably won't repurchase as for me it's more effort to get the right result than what it is worth. It's not the best mascara from Maybelline and if I get the application wrong it can really ruin my make up because of how wet and thick the formula is. So it's a bit of a mixed one! What do you think?

Maybelline The Rocket costs £7.99 from the drug store.

  1. I'm a sucker for mascara but still haven't picked this up... I'm super messy when it comes to big brushes like this so I may have to give it a miss. Great review lovely.

  3. Great review! The one thing I hate about buying a new mascara is the first couple weeks use, because it always feels like there is so much on the brush which is what I think causes the clumping. I always try rub as much of the excess off on the top of the bottle before applying, so definitely give that a try!

  8. I have a few 'iffy' reviews about this mascara. It's a shame that it takes so much effort to get it right because when it's good, it's reaaaaaally good!
