Review | L'Oreal Superliner Black Lacquer

L'Oreal Superliner Black Lacquer

L'Oreal Superliner Black Lacquer £6.49

Eyeliner is one of my cannot live with out products, I use it pretty much every day although I am trying to tone down how often I use it as it's got to the point that I don't feel like me unless I am wearing it! Anyone else get this too? I needed a new liquid eyeliner before Christmas and got sucked into a 3 for 2 and bought three different liquid liners from L'Oreal Superliner range, the first one I decided to use was the Superliner Black Lacquer.

The Superliner packaging is quite good, it's an easy brush to hold and would probably be pretty easy for anyone to use. The felt tip nib is flexible and quite spongey, soaking up enough of the liquid to do one eye at a time. Only one 'coat' is needed because of how pigmented the liner is, it's a completely opaque black and has a gorgeous glossy finish. It's almost vinyl like and looks really lovely.

This would literally be my perfect eyeliner expect it only works for me if I am doing the tiniest line as close to my lashes as possible. Anything more than the tiniest lines and this transfers and smudges all over the place (which has never happened to me before with any other eyeliner)! It feels tacky, heavy and just uncomfortable, it's a really strange feeling to have on your eyelids! I've tested it out a few times with a variety of different eyeliner looks and no matter what I do I end up with it all over the top of my eye lid and 'sticky' feeling eye lids.

If you like a really thin and tiny line then this might work for you, but if you like a thicker look or to wing out your liner then I would not bother.. Unless you like the proper panda eyes! I will keep persevering as I don't like to admit defeat with a product but it's not looking like a bright future. Here's hoping the rest of the Superliner range is a bit better.

Please tell me it's not just me having problems with this product!
Have you tried the L'Oreal Superliner range?

  1. That's such a shame to hear it didn't work for you. I haven't tried any liners from L'Oreal, but a few other brands do the same and transfer all over my lid. My friend recommended that I applied a pressed powder to my lid before applying the eyeliner and this did stop some of the transfer.

    1. It's frustrating as I really like the finish it gives and how shiny it is but nothing stops it from transferring! I've tried everything haha xo

  3. I've never tried anything from the Superliner range and I think I'll be avoiding this, the tackiness sounds horrible! Great review though :) xx

  4. Hmm, mixed review there - I hate it when it sticks to the brow bone and a lot of eyeliners seem to do that, regardless of how much primer and powder I use :o) Xx

    1. It is a bit mixed! I love the finish but hate the smudgyness and tacky feeling.
Nothing stops it from happening either xx

  5. L'Oreal Superliners are my fave, I use the one in the gold packaging though, not sure what the difference is but I remember trying one from this range that didn't work at all, it was possibly this one! I never have a problem with the gold packaged one, it's so easy to use, super black & doesn't smudge!

  6. After buying my latest eyeliner (a new one for me) and finding it rubbish, I realised how much eyeliner has become a part of 'me'. If I don't wear it I don't feel like myself and I'm sure people think I look ill! This look really good but the only thing I dislike about pen-style liners is that you get no real warning of them running out! xx

  7. So annoying that this transfers! Did you use a primer with it as well?

  8. I had a liner from the superliner range and it was absolutely amazing! Didn't transer or move at all once set. It looked like this one but it was more matte than lacquer, such a shame this didnt work for you! xx

  9. The liner looks really dark which I like! Hardest part is drawing a straight line! Will have to check this out. Thanks for the review!
