Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Whimsical £7.99

Like every beauty lover around I was far too excited when Revlon announced they would be launching a new range of Matte and Lacquer balms. I am a big fan of the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and ended up with almost every shade when they launched last year, so my hopes were high and my purse was ready for these to launch! I have picked up a few shades of both the Lacquer and Matte formulas so will add swatches over the next couple of weeks, pretty sure I will be buying the rest of the range too if I can find some spare money!

I love this sort of product because of how quick and fuss free they are to apply, it can be done wherever you are and without a mirror if (yep I've tried!) The chubby twist up pencil means it's super easy to use and there is no need to sharpen, perfect packaging! The Revlon ColourBurst Lacquer Balms have a high shine finish and are infused with shea, mango and cocoa butter to keep lips soft and hydrated. Like the Kissable Balm Stain's these have the slightly minty taste and scent, which I personally really like but probably isn't something everyone would be a fan of. They swatch sheerer on the skin but are easily built up to a strong pigmentation with two coats on the lips, but you can build them to be as sheer or as opaque as you want.

Whimsical is a gorgeous berry toned pink/purple that I think would flatter all skin tones. The shimmer particles of the Lacquer are a little bit scary in the bullet but give a gorgeous shine and glossy finish to the lips. Out of all the Lacquer balms I have tested this is the most 'sparkly' but I think it looks nice because of the deep colour and gives it a sort of 3D snazzy effect. I keep an eye on the colour though because as it fades off to a stain the sparkle stays put, I top it up every four hours or so to avoid a glitter lips situation.

I really like Whimsical and am actually a big fan of how shiny it looks. It's moisturising and comfortable to wear, I forget it's there most the time! Now someone take my purse before I go buy all the other shades...

You can pick up the Revlon ColourBurst Lacquer Balms here. They retail for £7.99 but are pretty much always on some sort of offer. Are you a fan?

  3. I've been so tempted to buy Whimsical but I have a fear it may be too bright for me when I'm used to very neutral shades! It looks absolutely gorgeous on you though lovely!! :) Love the real shine from it!

  9. I love deep berry shades, Whimsical looks just perfect!
Chubby sticks are a great invention, making application so easy.
I can be put off by shimmers too, but in the swatches it turns the shade very lovely and glossy rather than sparkly!
I will be keeping my eye out for these!

    1. It's a gorgeous colour, really love it! I agree, can't imagine my lipstick routine without all these clever chubby stick style lip products! It's a lovely glossy finish, a bit sparkly when it fades but once topped up it's back to glossy and pretty!xo
