Christmas Beauty Crackers 2014

Whether you're a Christmas lover or a bit of a scrooge, it's not far away now with just 52 shopping days left! I posted last year about Christmas Beauty Crackers and lots of you loved it. I mean who wouldn't want to pull open one of these beauties over Christmas dinner? Along with advent calendars, crackers filled with beauty treats are becoming more popular every year with big brands jumping on the festive bandwagon. I've rounded up my favourites from this year's offerings, if you treat yourself or the whole family I'm sure these would go down much better than a paper hat, rubbish joke and a tiny cellotape.

Clarins- A thing of beauty, the crackers look so perfect it may take determination to pull them apart, well until you hear about the treats inside! With six crackers and products including a mini Wonder Perfect Mascara, 30ml Beauty Flash Balm, 30ml Gentle Refiner, 30ml Hand and Nail Treatment Cream, mini Rouge Eclat Lipstick and a 30ml Eau des Jardins fragrance. £39 for the box seems pricey but it's a decent price considering the product sizes!

Jo Malone- Probably not a cracker for everyone at the dining table, however this would make a really beautiful gift for someone interested in beauty! The packaging is stunning and the treats inside are lovely; 9ml Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne, 15ml Blackberry & Bay Body Handwash and 15ml Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Creme. At £32 for one cracker it's at the luxury end of the market but a gorgeous gift!

Cowshed- An affordable cracker that's worth the price as the cost of the products is £9! Inside is a 50ml Cow Herb Hand Cream and a full size Lippy Cow lip balm. This would make a lovely stocking filler or gift for anyone interested in skincare, we all need hand cream and lip balm!

Lancome- A gorgeous set of six products that will bring joy to all the beauty lovers at the table (or just for you if you can get your hands on all the products inside!) With premium products including mini sizes of Hypnose Volume Mascara, Black Kohl Liner, Youth Activating Concentrate, Lip Lover, L'absolue Lipstick and Bi-Facil Eye Make Up Remover. For £54 for six crackers, it's a pricey set but worth it for a bit of luxury at Christmas!

Molton Brown- I love Molton Brown and the scent featured in this cracker is actually one of my fvourites! Pink Pepperpod smells incredible and having tried the hand cream it definitely works! Inside the cracker is a full sized hand cream, a 50ml body wash and 50ml body lotion. With a product value of £17 this cracker is great price at £20!

Anatomicals- The bargain cracker of the bunch at just £4.50 but currently on sale for £3! Anatomicals is a fun brand and would make a lovely gift, secret santa present or stocking filler. Inside the cute cracker is a minty lip balm and breath freshener. It's definitely not going to break the bank and is worth picking up as possible gift options, especially whilst it is on sale!

Which beauty cracker is your favourite?

Review | Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

 Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish* 100ml £13.25

I am seriously late to the party with this one but I thought I'd add my thoughts into the thousands of glowing reviews that there are online! Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is a hot cloth cleanser that has won a huge amount of awards and has an ever bigger fan base!
It's a two step cleanser that gives skin a deep clean and light exfoliation. It is one of the most hyped and loved products that you'll ever come across in the beauty world, pretty much everyone loves it!

I love that Cleanse & Polish comes in a pump bottle as it's really easily to dispense the right amount of product you need. It's a rich cream that has a pleasant light floral scent. I take two pumps and massage this onto dry skin making sure to work it into my lashes to get rid of all traces of eye make up. I then take a muslin cloth or flannel that's been soaked in warm water and place it on my skin for a few seconds. Then I polish off the cleanser in circular movements with the warm cloth and gently wipe away product from the eye area.

Cleanse & Polish leaves my skin feeling beautifully soft, smooth and completely clean. I've used this every night for two months and have really fallen for it. It feels luxurious and like a proper treat for the skin. Liz Earle claim that this will suit absolutely everyone but because of the heavier texture I'm not convinced it would be that good for acne prone or oily skin, however for my dry skin it's great.

There are many different types of hot cloth cleansers around now but I've binned them all in favour of this. Usually a cheaper dupe does me fine but in this case I'm sticking with the original. It just feels so lovely and for the price I think it's a beauty cupboard staple.
I can definitely see why this has earned itself it's hyped status and I'll be repurchasing this time and time again.

Are you a Cleanse & Polish fan?

Review | Benefit Majorette Blush

Benefit Majorette Blush
Benefit Majorette Blush

Benefit Majorette Blush

Benefit Majorette Blush
 Benefit Majorette Blush* £23.50

Whenever a new Benefit product launches you can feel the excitement in the blogging world and the buzz for this product was pretty huge! Benefit's newest addition to their make up range is Majorette, a 'Booster Blush' with a cream to powder finish. This is Benefit's first cream blush and actually the first of their blushes I've tried. I'm not great with blush and have only this year started to wear it daily since trying out cream textures and finding they work much better for my dry skin and tend to look more natural.

The packaging for Majorette is a super cute marching band theme shaped like a tambourine. It's lightweight, compact and has a good sized mirror inside. I love it's magnetic closure as it makes that satisfying sound when it closes! The blush itself is dome shaped and has a pretty sun pattern printed onto it. Before I even noticed Majorette's shade I was drawn to it's gorgeous citrus scent, it doesn't seem to transfer to skin but I'd probably avoid if you're not a fan of scented products.

Majorette is a bold orange shade in the pan but is a softer peachy coral shade when applied that I think would suit all skin tones. On my super pale skin it adds a subtle warm colour that could be built up to be more intense in shade but I like my blush to be subtle. It applies really smooth with the cream texture but dries to a powder finish meaning it lasts longer. It's a really light formula that's so easy to apply and work with. It melts into the skin when applied with fingers but looks lovely if you use a stippling brush too.

Benefit created Majorette as a 'Booster Blush' that can be worn under another blush to 'boost' the colour and longevity. I prefer to wear Majorette on it's own for a natural blush but if you do prefer a bolder colour this might be great for you! I have tried using this as a Booster Blush and it definitely works to deepen the effect of the second blush and make sure it lasts all day. When I wear Majorette on it's own it lasts around 8 hours.

As a natural peachy shade or used to boost other blushes, I'm a big fan of Majorette. It's pricey but worth it for the cute packaging, quality and cheer it brings!
Do you like the look of Majorette?

Simply Be Hipster Holiday Hotspots

shirt  jeans  hat  shoes

Whether you are regularly flying all over the globe or prefer a staycation, Simply Be have put together a trendy map full of the most fashionable and fun places to add to your destination bucket list. It might be a street, city or suburb, but if it's worth visiting then it's on the hotspot map. These places are full of cool places to eat, visit and shop proving their is more to a fashionisa than just what you wear but it's a great place to start.
To go with each hotspot, Simply Be have put together the ideal outfit for each location. If you're not planning a holiday but just want some fashion inspiration then check out the map to find out what's on trend all round the world.

Simply Be want you to vote for your favourite destination and to let them know if you think they've missed somewhere off the map! I voted for Bushwick in New York as it's a city I'd love to visit one day. I love New York fashion and the idea of mixing trends like girly dresses with masculine accessories and trainers!

In my opinion a hotspot Simply Be have missed off their map is Paris! I visited the beautiful city for a weekend this summer and fell in love. It's such a lovely place and I'd love to go back one day. To me Paris fashion is quite simple and capsule, with key investment pieces that you can mix and match to put together outfits for everything occasion.
The outfit above is my take on a relaxed outfit for a day of sightseeing, shopping and cafe hopping in the capital of France!

You can check out Simply Be's Hipster Holiday Hotspots Map here,
What's your top destination from Simply Be's hotspots and what location would you add to the map?

Review | Barry M Glitterati Collecion

Glitterati Collection*, £3.99 each
L-R Starlet, Socialite, Fashion Icon, Catwalk Queen, VIP, Rockstar

Barry M win all the awards in my eyes with their stunning new Glitterati collection that's available now! With 6 new sparkling shades there is at least one for everyone and I'm going to be wearing them all as we get scarily close to the 'party season'.

The Glitterati polishes are formed of a tinted jelly colour base that's jam packed with iridescent glitter that gives the most amazing sparkle. The pictures above really don't show off how beautiful they are, you have to check them out for yourselves in store to see the full effect! Above I've swatched two thicker layers of polish to get a completely opaque glitter finish, however they also work really well when you paint them as a glitter topcoat over a base colour that matches the tint of the polish.

Each polish has a jelly coloured base and is packed with different coloured glitter and holographic particles that catch the light and shine all different colours!

You can apply the polishes on there own and get full opaque glittery finish with around two coats but this can feel slightly thick sometimes and also doesn't last as long as when you apply just one coat, like a topcoat, over another polish that matches so it depends on how much glitter you like!
The whole collection is stunning and I really can't pick a favourite. They are perfect for the upcoming festive season or when you just need a bit more sparkle in your life.

Are you a fan of the Glitterati Collection?

September Degustabox

Degustabox delivery date is possibly my favourite bit of the month, who wouldn't love a surprise box of goodies arriving on their doorstop? Degustabox is a monthly subscription that costs £12.99 incl delivery and you can cancel at any time with no worries. Products are picked to suit your tastes and it's literally like Christmas when it arrives! I have to say this months box wasn't my favourite but my Nan absolutely loved everything inside it and it went down a treat for her!

The first thing I pulled out the box was the two different flavours of the drink Little Miracles. I'm not a fan of these simply because I don't like tea but my Nan loved both of these flavours. Each bottle only has 90 calories so if you're into these sort of drinks they are definitely worth trying.
Each box will either have an alcoholic or non alcoholic option depending on your preferences. I received one of each Crabbies drink to try out. The alcoholic Zesty Lemon was light and refreshing and the non alcohol Lemonade was up my Nan's street as it had a hint of ginger in it.

Another thing my Nan loves is granola so the huge bag of Jordan's Crunchy Baked Oats with Honey was opened straight away and she has been eating it for breakfast with milk or yogurt practically every day.
The La Viejas Fabrica Seville Orange Marmalade is something I personally don't like (I'm a butter only type of girl) but again my Nan loves this stuff and said she will definitely purchase it.

Burt's Lentil Waves are something I was very interested to try as I love crisps. I can't say they are as good as a bag of Kettle Crisps but they make a lovely slightly healthier alternative at 99 calories a bag. The flavours are good and I don't feel guilty eating them!
My Nan eats salad all the time so she was excited to try out the Righteous Dressings that are completely natural. She loved them all but especially the Blue Cheese and Cider flavour.
I hadn't heard of the Carnation Cooking Crème before but am hoping to use it soon to attempt something like a Chicken Korma, it has 68% less fat than single cream.

My favourite thing in this months box was the Elizabeth Shaw Dark Chocolate Mint Thins, I love mint and dark chocolate so these were devoured pretty quickly! They are lovely and moreish but I found I only needed a couple to kick the chocolate craving. I also loved the Pick Up biscuits for keeping in my handbag for when I need some sugar or for eating on breaks at work. They are biscuits with solid chocolate in the middle and quite yummy.

In each months box you get discount vouchers off a couple of the products. In the September box was a 50p off voucher for Pick Up bars and a £1 off Crabbies!

Overall the September box was perfect for my Nan as she loved, used or will use every single thing inside but for me there were just a couple of things I liked. I am super fussy and unhealthy though!

Review | Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Forest

Clarins Eye Quarter Mineral Palette in Forest £32

Every girl deserves a bit of luxury right? That's what I told myself when I ordered the Clarins Quartet in Forest. The Forest quartet was introduced as part of last years Autumn collection but added to the permanent range, a great decision as it's lovely!

The Clarins packaging is beautifully presented with weighty gold casing that feels luxurious and classic. It's made it's way into my MUJI storage on top of my dressing table so I can see it even if I'm not using it. Product packaging is definitely a weakness of mine! The Quartet comes with a red velvet pouch and there is also a big mirror inside the compact. It comes with two foam applicators that I've chucked as I never use them.

To me Forest is a perfect all year round palette but especially great as we go into the colder months (currently writing this under two duvets!) I was a bit unsure about this because of the khaki shade as I've never used a green eye shadow before but it's actually really nice.

Shade 1- a khaki green with a satin finish and only a tiny amount of shimmer, it has a hint of brown making it less of an intense green and very wearable
Shade 2- a light beige cream that is packed with shimmer, it's not overly pigmented but lovely for a sheer colour or for adding some sparkle
Shade 3- a bit of a complex shadow as it looks black but has both green and brown undertones with flecks of gold glitter
Shade 4- a taupe shade with warm brown tones too it and hints of golds shimmer, satin finish

Apart from the second shade all the shadows are very pigmented, they are all creamy soft and easy to blend. They can be applied both dry and wet if you like a more intense colour pay off. There is a small amount of shimmer fall down when applying the shadows dry but it can be easily fixed or avoided if you do your eye make up before your base. The shadows last around 8 hours on me without a primer.

I love this a lot and although it's pricey I think it's worth it for a little bit of luxury and great quality.
Have you tried any Clarins make up?

Paris, day three

It's been over three months but I'm still sad to have left Paris. Our last day had beautiful weather and we got to see all the sights one last time before heading home, which I've complied into a 3 and a half minute long video that I'd love if you could watch.
Paris is a beautiful city and if you get the chance to go you must! I've already booked to go back but this time may be more for the Disney side of things *eeeeeeeeeeeee*!

It would mean the world if you fancied subscribing to my YouTube Channel here!
Have you ever been to Paris?

Review | Emjoi MICRO Nail Electric Polisher

Emjoi MICRO Nail Electric Polisher* £39.99

I love beauty but I also love a gadget, so if you combine the two I'm pretty much guaranteed to be interested! At a recent press launch I was asked if I was interested in trying out a new nail product that was at the time embargoed and of course I said yes. I had to be blindfolded whilst the product was used on me but when I took the blindfold off I was genuinely shocked and impressed at the results. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I'm now the proud owner of the new MICRO Nail Electric Polisher and I'm a tad in love with it.

The MICRO Nail Electric Polisher is a battery powered tool that buffs and shines nails in minutes with it's rotating mineral rollers. The first step is to use the green roller to smooth the nail and buff away ridges, then use the white roller to give your nails a natural shine. All you have to do is move the tool over the nail for a couple of seconds and you'll see the results instantly. It's recommended to use the green smoothing roller every two weeks and the white shine roller as often as you like.

This might seem like a bit of an unnecessary thing to some people, but this is seriously one of my favourite launches of the year. If you don't like to wear nail polish or even wear it all the time then this is something worth picking up. It removes staining, smooths ridges and grooves, leaves nails shiny and glossy as well as working to prolong nail polish.

It takes less than five minutes to use both rollers on my nails and it's so nice to use something that has instant results. I don't typically like bare nails but I'll happily go without polish after using this.
I think it's a product for everyone and definitely one to pick up or add to your Christmas list! It's a super quick and easy way to do a bit of nail care.

The Emjoi MICRO Nail Electric Polisher costs £39.99 here and a pack of 4 replacement rollers costs £12.99. I've been using the Polisher for about 6 weeks and haven't need to replace my first set of rollers yet so they definitely last a long time.

Would you try an Electric Polisher?
