Benefit Roller Lash in Elle Magazine

Benefit are about to launch a very exciting new make up product that's got the beauty world in a frenzy and you can try it before it's official launch at the end of February! I actually never buy magazines anymore unless there is a really good freebie and in my opinion this collaboration between Benefit and Elle is not one to be missed.

We all know that Benefit 'get' mascara. They are responsible for the no.1 best selling mascara in the world, They're Real which is a make up obsession of mine that I've actually weirdly never reviewed on my blog before.

Roller Lash is Benefit's newest make up launch that promises to be a 'curl's best friend' and get rid of the need for lash curlers! Roller Lash is all about giving your lashes that eye opening curl we all wish for. If you've got short or straight lashes or small eyes this could well be a game changer for you.

Fancy trying this before it hits the counters? There is a fair sized sample for you to try free in this month's issue of Elle Magazine (March issue). It launched on January 29th and I'm sure is flying off the shelves so if you want to get your hands on this exclusive Roller Lash sample weeks before it's official launch then track yourself down a copy of Elle.

Elle magazine costs £4 and is available to around the end of Feb or when stocks run out.

Review | Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara £19

I have found my dream mascara, it's complete head over heels and hit you wear it hurts love. The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara has had a fair amount of hype, mostly due to it's bold name. However I honestly think this is one of the best mascara's I have ever used and I don't think I'll ever let myself be without it!
Too Faced is a brand that's recently become avaliable to buy easily in the UK now that it is stocked online at Debenhams,  Look Fantastic and BeautyBay.

The packaging is stunning and feels very luxurious. The tube is a gorgeous rose gold tone that stands out from the mostly black and silver mascaras I own. It also feels quite weighty, which is something I thought would be a pain when applying but if anything it makes it easier to use! The end with the brush is heavier than a normal mascara but in my opinion this means you get a better grip on the handle and it makes it much easier to work with. The name is also embossed onto the tube. It feels and looks very luxurious, you're probably going to also fall in love.

The bristle brush has a unique hourglass shape that I've not seen on a mascara before. The brush is apparently inspired by the curves of a woman's body. The bristles are tightly packed in and help to separate and coat each lash with the collagen fuelled formula. The formula is very black and I find one coat is all I need to get amazing lashes.

Better Than Sex Mascara is great if you want lashes that are lengthened, fuller, curled and voluminous. It ticks every box! On me it doesn't smudge or flake and lasts all day long, plus it's not impossible to remove. Basically I'm completely obsessed and am a tad addicted. I might even give it the status of 'holy grail!'
As for whether it lives up to it's name, I won't give my opinion but I'll just say you'll definitely be surprised! The one problem with it is that it's so good it's mostly always out of stock, so keep an eye on the stockists I mentioned above!

I definitely think I need to try more products from Too Faced now!

5 Books I've Read #1

Reading is something I don't talk about often enough, I've mentioned books in monthly YouTube favourites before but never dedicated a blog post to talk about books I love or have read. I absolutely love reading and have done for as long as I could remember.
My family always encouraged me to read and I remember how my Grandad would take me to buy the latest Jacqueline Wilson books and then when I was older my Dad would drive me to the midnight Harry Potter launches!

I recently started using Good Reads and have become a bit obsessed with adding books to different 'shelves'. I love that you can save books you have read, give and read reviews on them and find similar books that may interest you. I've also created a shelf for books I own and will read soon and books I want to read. It's an organiser and book lovers dream!

This year I want to share with you books I've read, loved (or sometimes not) and think you should read too!
(I should probably point out that I'm mostly into books that are gripping and thrilling, not necessarily easy to read romcoms, so some of these books are quite dark!)

Kathy was brought up in Hailsham, a private school in the English countryside, where all students were kept sheltered from the outside world. They grew up knowing they were 'special' and that their welfare was crucial to society.
When two of Kathy's old school friends reenter her life she has to revisit her past and face the truth about her existence.

There is little I can say without spoiling the plot, but it left me questioning ethics, genetics and more. It can be difficult to deal with the themes and it will provoke thoughts for discussion but I think that's what books are for. It's a must read! (Don't bother with the film though, it's awful!)

Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
One typical day in March, Peter goes to school with a gun instead of books and shoots 10 people dead. After years of bullying he has snapped.
The judge's daughter is the state's best witness but can she remember what happened?

This is chilling because of how close to real life it is. It is an incredibly emotive book that will leave you wondering if it's okay to feel sympathy for the shooter who destroyed many lives but had also experienced so much hate from his classmates and 'friends'.
The plot will keep you guessing all the way through!

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
A wealthy and beautiful family that summer on a private island each year. All seems perfect.
A group of four friends, The Liars.

Lies, love, secrets, truth and tragedy.

I literally do not want to tell you anymore than that. I finished it recently and all I could think was 'wow', it really was not what I was expecting.
It's a very clever book and best read when you know barely anything about it.
Just go read it now!

Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy
When she was 10 Alice did something evil. Everyone would hate her if she knew.
Six years on can Alice live a normal life and deal with what she did?

This is a haunting book about a child murdered learning to move on from what she did. Instinct tells you to hate her but the plot tells you more about her disturbing childhood and leaves you questioning if she is truly as evil as the media thinks.
I really enjoyed this and the sequel is on my list to read very soon!

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Libby was 10 when her brother killed her family. Since then she's drifted through life living off a charity fund. Now the money runs out so she faces her past to earn more.
Libby's evidence sent her brother to jail but did he really do it?

Again so little I can say without spoiling the plot, but this is one of my favourite books of all time. It's incredibly dark and disturbing. It keeps you guessing the truth right til the end and has many shocks that kept me completely gripped.
I was actually sad when it was finished I'm going to read it again very soon!

What are you currently reading? I'd love some book suggestions!
If you are on Good Reads please feel free to add me here.

Review | The Travalo

RRP approx £11.99 but only £7.90 here.

I was flicking through some old pictures of products I never got round to blogging about and found these of my Travalo, I received this as a birthday gift a few years ago and at first thought it was a bit naff if I'm completely honest. However it quickly became  a complete handbag staple for me and I think every woman should have one!

The Travalo is basically a really easy way to carry your perfume around with you, whether you are travelling, going to a festival or just like to have your perfume with you in your handbag. I always like to take perfume out with me to top up or refresh through the day but hate having to lug around a whole bottle because it's heavy and I don't even want to think of the mess if it smashed.

A Travalo is a refillable atomizer spray bottle that can hold enough perfume for about 50 sprays. Filling it up is really simply, it will work with any perfume that has a removable spray head. Just pull the nozzle off the fragrance then place the Travalo on top and pump it up and down. The perfume will fill the Travalo easily and you can see how full it is with the clear window on the atomizer.

The Travalo is small and portable at 8cm long and weighing about 13 grammes. I carry mine with me every day and have even taken it on the plane before. It's a really simple and seriously handy thing to own! I'm thinking of getting a couple more so I can take different perfumes out with me and to save more space when travelling.

Travalo's aren't the cheapest at around £11.99 but I've found them here for just £7.90!
Do you own a Travalo?

Review | REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

Review | REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask
Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask* £30

REN is a brand I'm hoping to try more of in 2015 after becoming obsessed with this product. I love nothing more than having a hot bath and reading a book whilst treating my skin and hair to masks. The REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask has become my skin's favourite weekly treatment because of it's instant results.
REN formulate their products to be free from parabens, mineral oils, sulphates, synthetic fragrances and other ingredients that aren't great for your skin.

The Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask contains natural acids from fruits including lemon, grape, pineapple and papaya. Using acids might sound scary but they work to naturally exfoliate the top layer of skin to remove dead skin cells and encourage cell renewal. The mask helps to clear blockages in the skin and give your complexion a bright, radiant and healthy look from first use.

I love the pump packaging, one pump gives you the right amount for each application and keeps the bottle clean! The texture is quite light and has a marmalade like consistency, it smells lovely and fruity. You apply the mask to clean and dry skin, leave it to work for around 10 minutes then remove with a muslin cloth or flannel. There is a slight tingling and warm feeling when you apply the mask but it's not uncomfortable, to me this is a sign of it getting to work on bashing the dull and dead skin!

When I remove the mask I'm left with skin that is pretty much glowing. My skin feels much smoother and like it's had a bunch of light injected into it. The Glycolactic Mask gives you instant results of brighter and more radiant skin, perfect for this time of year!
I think this would be great for all skin types but especially normal, dry and dull skins. Sensitive skin types make like it because it's an exfoliant that doesn't have involve that scrubbing action but I'd definitely try to get a sample and do a patch test.

It's a product that my skin needs more during the colder months but when the summer comes I'll keep using this a monthly skin pick me up!
The REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask costs £30 but is currently on sale for £24 here!

Review | Barry M Natural Glow Palette 2

Barry M Natural Glow Palette 2* £6.49

You are probably aware of my love of Barry M nail paints but I can't say I have tried much of the rest of their make up ranges until receiving a few new additions to their line up of palettes. The Barry M Natural Glow 2 palette is a follow up to the original palette, which proved to be quite successful.

Natural Glow 2 is a mostly cool toned palette that features three matte shadows, three shimmer shadows and a yellow toned eye shadow primer.  The primer swatch didn't show up on my skin but it's a fairly neutral primer with yellow tones that will help to even out skin tone. The texture of the primer is quite balm like so best for normal to drier skin types. I can't say it did much for me but to be honest I'm lucky that eyeshadow seems to stay put on me.

The shadows from left to right of the palette:
a matte cream with a yellow tone,
a cool toned matte grey,
a cool toned light mauve,
a golden light tan shimmer,
a deep mauve/copper shimmer,
a metallic red/purple brown mix with a hint of shimmer

All the shadows are very pigmented and soft but there is a tiny bit of fall out. The shadows blend easily and really compliment each other, pretty much each shadow goes well with others from the palette. If you are just getting into eyeshadow or want something that's quite foolproof then this is a great palette to consider. The palette will cover a neutral every day look, a darker smokey eye and most looks in between!

For £6.49 here it's a really good palette and definitely worth trying out.
Have you tried any palettes from Barry M?
